Dharamkot is a small tribal village from where the Triund trek actually starts. Walking from road towards the Bhagsu Nag temple is a good experience as it gives an insight into the snow covered mountains, huge glaciers, rich, vibrant yet simple and natural life of the locals known as Gaddi’s whose traditional occupation has been herding from centuries ago.

The trekking route passes through villages like Rawa, Dharamkot, Rakkar, Bhagsu and finally meets at the temple of Galu Devi. An overnight stay can be planned at Forest Rest House at Triund at a very reasonable tariff of Rs.500 per night. The local shepherds initially used this small hill terrain that is now known as the trekker’s paradise in summers to venture into Chamba district through the Dhauladhar hills. On way to Triund one can see small settlements of remote civilization and an unexplored fauna and flora that still lie protected by the sequence of huge mountains.
