Six hectares land of Prashant Bhushan’s Educational Society vested to government

Deputy Commissioner Kangra Mr. C.Palrasu on Wednesday vested the six hectares of land, which was purchased by Kumad Bhushan Educational Society situated a Kandwari near Palampur in 2010, to the government for alleged violation of section 118 sub-section (h) of the Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reforms Act by the said educational society as the land was not utilized for the purpose for stipulated two years for said purpose for which permission by state government for the permission for the purchase was granted to the society.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. C.Palrasu in the court delivered the judgement of this high profile case which was represented by Mr. Jatinder Sharma on behalf of the state, who has been designated to represent revenue cases before the Deputy Commissioner, and by Suman, son of Prashant Bhushan, who is secretary of the Kumad Bhushan Educational Society.

Deputy Commissioner while delivering the judgement said that a case was running against Kumad Bhushan Educational Society situated at Palampur in his court and show cause notice, which was served to the Educational Society in 2012 that is why the six hectare land purchased by the Kumad Bhushan Educational society should not be vested to the government for non-utilization of land for the last two years.

He said that opportunities were given to both parties state government and the Educational Society and after the arguments heard as there was no evidence material on the file to show that there is educational institution running there and the court decided the case in favour of the state and vested the land purchased by the society to the state government for alleged violation of the section 118 and sub section (h) of the Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reforms Act.

Suman, Son of Mr. Prashant Bhushan came out of the court and refused to speak to media, however, circulated a press note claiming that as the Secretary of the Kumad Bhushan Educational Society, Prashant Bhushan had moved the case against Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh for his alleged involvement in corruption cases and it was because of this the administration on the direction of the Chief Minister started alleged vindictive actions against the society which was unfortunate.

Statement added that since 2004 the society moved the government for the permission for the purchase of the land under section 118 of Land tenancy and Reforms Act which was granted on February 2, 2010 and since then the educational activities were in progress and hundreds of the workshops were conducted there, besides training the youths from outside the state, the local youths too were trained. He said that the environment too was protected in the area by the society.

Statement claimed that a library for children besides a science laboratory, handicraft and song and Drama sections were established in the said institution.
