Former minister and four time BJP legislator Dila Ram passes away

Former minister and four time Bharatiya Janta Party Legislator Mr. Dila Ram passed away after illness at his native place at Mahadev village in Mandi district in the state yesterday morning.

He was 74 years and was elected first time on Bharatiya Janta Party ticket from Nachan reserve seat of Mandi district in 1977. He was also elected on BJP ticket in 1982, 1990 and 2007.

He was appointed minister of state for Panchayati Raj in Shanta Kumar’s government on June 28, 1991 and elevated to Cabinet Minister of Food, Consumer affairs and Civil Supply Corporation on April 19, 1992.

Departed leader remained Chairman of State Finance Commission between 2007-2012. He left behind wailing sons and four daughters. Earlier he was Junior Basic Teacher (JBT).

Report said that he passed away at 0700 hours yesterday morning as he was ailing from sometime.
