Union railway budget unpromising to Himachal; BJP delegation met union railway minister

Former Union Minister and BJP MP from Kangra Mr. Shanta Kumar including four party MP’s met with union railway minister Sadanand Gowda at New Delhi to apprise him that union budget was unpromising for the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Mr. Kumar said in a press statement released on Wednesday that the delegation apprised the union railway minister that despite having BJP in the centre the rail budget was discouraging for Himachal Pradesh.

The delegation specially emphasized that number of proposals could be included in the union rail budget after taking policy decision on them found no mention in the budget speech.

Mr. Gowda assured the delegation that before passing final draft of union railway budget the concern of Himachal Pradesh would be sympathetically considered.

Earlier Mr. Kumar stressed the need to increase the frequency of Dhauladhar Express running thrice in a week which could be increased to six days.

He said that laying down of new Pathankot to Leh and Bhanupali-Bilaspur to Leh railway lines could be announced to began soon. Out of 29 railway proposed projects in the budget, 11 had been announced for northern railway budget but one of such national project could be announced for Himachal Pradesh.

The delegation demanded that after completion of survey of Ghnoli to Dehradun via Nalagarh railway project its construction could be announced to start in the budget. They also demanded to include the the proposal of Chandigarh to Baddi railway line in the budget.

Only two railway project had been announced in the budget for this hill state and failed to get expectations of people of this hill state as they were hoping more.
