With the recovery of two more bodies of the Engineering students of VNR Vignana Jyoti Institute Hyderabad, the total number of the bodies extricated so far has gone up to ten.

Fifteen bodies are yet to be retrieved – fourteen students and one tour operator.

One of the bodies has been identified as that of TBD Taurn and the other has not been identified as most of the parents have gone back to Hyderabad yesterday.

Both the bodies are of male.

A mega search operation had been launched on June 15 when every inch of the length of 5-km long river-bed been dried up and was thoroughly scanned and searched by over 700 personnel of police, army, para-military units, ITBP men, jawans of navy and Himachal police besides the divers of BBMB, navy and NDRF had left no stone unturned in searching the bodies, but were disappointed at the end of the day.

The 5-km portion of Beas had been totally dried up. Obviously the bodies had been swept to Pandoh Dam as the Beas was in spate and the Larji hydro project authorities had to release the water when the level of the dam swelled to 969.5 meters at 2200 hours that night (June 15).

Even the latest multi-beam Sonar technology whereby Radar emits sound waves and takes images in water did not yield any results that day.

As expected, the bodies had been swept to Pandoh Dam from where two were extricated this afternoon.
