Last phase of election campaigning washed by rain in Himachal

The last phase of election campaign was washed away today after heavy rain showers in the state as there was report of rain and hailstorm from many part of the state affecting the normal life and bringing the cold wave in the state.

Report arriving from Sirmaur, Solan, Bilaspur and Hamirpur said that rain showers disrupt high pitch election campaign which came to the end this evening while rain showers and thunder storm hit other parts of the state, bringing down the mercury.

Many areas of this district where apple crop is flowering got affected by the hailstrom in last 24 hours. Many villages of Jubbal and Kotkhai experienced hailstrom last night, an apple grower told media.

Shimla town had 18 mm rainfall, Gohar in Mandi district 71 mm, Sundernagar 48 mm, Sujanpur Tira in Hamirpur district 39 mm and Sunni Bajji in Shimla district 38 mm.

One of the famous tourist resort Kasauli received 29 mm rain, Bajaura in Kullu district 24 mm, Manali 23 mm, Bijahi in Mandi district and Kotkhai in Shimla district 21 mm each, Jhandutta in Bilaspur district 20 mm, Bilapsur town and Baijnath in Kangra district 19 mm each, Mashobra in Shimla district 18 mm, Karsog in Mandi district 15 mm, Jubbal in Shimla district 14 mm, and Bhuntar 12 mm.

Maximum temperature also got dip by 2 to 3 degrees today, as Manali was 20 degrees, Shimla 21 degrees , Sundernagar 29.5 degrees, Bhuntar 26.5 degrees, Kalpa 20.2 degrees, Dharamshala 32.8 degrees, Una 36 degrees, Nahan 31 degrees, Solan 27.2 degrees and Kangra 32.8 degrees.

The Met forecast rain or thundershowers at few parts in middle and high reaches and mainly dry weather in rest of state during next 24 hours.
