19th Revd. Dr. Samuel Slater Memorial inter school debates starts : Shimla

The 19th Revd. Dr. Samuel Slater Memorial Inter School Debates form a prestigious part of the school’s curricular year. This year the inaugural debate was held between Vasant Valley School, New Delhi and St. James’ College, Calcutta. The chairperson for the occasion was the school captain, Yashvardhan Singh. Many interesting and jaw-dropping debates followed along the course of the day. Speakers from all age groups displayed their talent on the podium. A lot of convincing speeches were heard not only from the debaters but also from the budding debaters who spoke during the Open House.

Of all the debates that took place, one of the most interesting on was between La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow and La Martiniere Boys’ College, Lucknow. Both the teams spoke equally well hence, the fourth speakers had to be brought upon the podium. Finally the La Martiniere Boys’ won with Raghav Kohli emerging as the best speaker. Another such debate was between Bishop Cotton School (Cambridge) and Sherwood College, Nainital which was won by BCS with Shlok Goel emerging as the best speaker.

Aitchison College Lahore V/S The Lawrence School Sanawar
Winner: Aitchison College; Best Speaker: Syed Rafay Hassan

Sri Ram School, New Delhi V/S Loreto House, Kolkata
Winner: Loreto House, Kolkata: Best Speakers: Ipsiata Gupta & Aditya Maru

Assam Valley School, Assam V/S La Martinere for boys, Lucknow
Winner: La Martiniere for boys Lucknow: Best Speaker Suravi Podder
