Deadlock continues in Himachal assembly

Deadlock continues in Himachal Pradesh assembly for fifth consecutive day, as no member of opposition joined proceedings of the house, boycotting budget session today.

Deputy Speaker Jagat Ram conducted proceedings of house today found each member absent as he called them during the question hours.

Seeking apology from Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh all 26 member of BJP are not turning out in the assembly, alleging that they were remarked by Mr. Singh equating them ‘bounded labour of one family’.

They also brought breech of privilege motion against Chief Minister, yet to consider by Speaker Brij Behari Lal Butail.

In the absence of opposition, house proceedings were conducted for half an hour as most of question hours and business was to be transacted by the BJP members.

State Law Minister Kaul Singh Thakur who had given a statement in the house yesterday appealing opposition to reconsider about the boycott and join proceedings in the last week of 15 days long session.

Opposition member now reported busy in organizing mega rally of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narinder Kumar Modi at Sujanpur scheduled to be held on February 16, expected to open their card on the present impasse.
