Opposition gives notice for breach of privilege over CM’s remarks

The opposition BJP in state today gave a notice for the breach of privilege to the assembly speaker for making purported remarks against its legislators by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal told media persons that a notice was given to Speaker B.B.L. Butail over Virbhadra Singh’s remarks against the party legislators.

He said the chief minister, in his press briefings yesterday addressed all the BJP members “as bounded laborers of one family”.

Chief whip of the BJP Legislative Party Suresh Bhardwaj said all 26 party legislators are signatory to the notice to over the chief minister’s objectionable remarks after the party’s walkout during the governor’s address.

Former Deputy Speaker Rikhi Ram Kondal and number of other BJP legislators handed over notice to speaker during the lunch break. The Speaker has to decide yet over this notice. Meanwhile, leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, BJP state President who is member of assembly from Una and Party chief whip Rakhi Ram Kondal met with speaker to end the stalemate in the house over boycott of state assembly proceeding by opposition on different pretext.
