Warning of heavy snowfall in HP

The Meteorological Department today warned of heavy snowfall in next 24 hours as it was mainly overcast today but mercury improvises slightly in the night.

Weather bulletin released by Shimla Met. office said that Western Disturbance (W.D.) would move east northwards which is likely to bring heavy snowfall at some parts of high reaches, rain or snow at many places in the middle and high reaches and rain in many parts of foot hills.

Meanwhile, bone chilling cold-wave continues in the state but it has improvised slightly as minimum temperature is gone up by 2 to 3 degrees in last 24 hours. Bharmour was coldest at minus 9 degrees, Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district at minus 8 degrees, Kalpa minus 1.6 degrees, Manali 0.6 degrees, Dalhousie 2.8 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi district, Bhuntar in Kullu district, Una, Solan and Chamba at 3 degrees each, Shimla and Hamirpur 4 degrees each, Nahan and Kangra 5 degrees, Dharamshala, Palampur and Bilaspur 6 degrees each.

As many as 28 snowbound people have been evacuated by the army chopper from Udaipur and Stangri helipad today, Dr. Ranjeet Singh Liasioning officer of GAD informed from Bhuntar. He said that lists was mounting high of people who want to get evacuated and also employees who had been deployed in the snowbound district.

With more rain or snow in the high reaches the people have to face more weather vagaries as services have badly hampered by the inclement weather system.

However, there is no report of fresh snowfall and rain till now.
