Himachal forest corporation ready for marketing of its timber material goods

Himachal Pradesh is the rarest variety of tree plants and possibilities were being explored for marketing the best species of timber through global e-tendering process. A website of the Corporation would be launched soon containing relevant information about forest wealth and marketing tactics for the sale of best timber, revealed the Vice-Chairman of State Forest Corporation, Mr. Kewal Singh Pathania while presiding over the meeting of Committee on Diversification of Crop Management.

Possibilities have come across to manufacture bamboo goods and furniture so that it could be sold at profitable rates so as to increase the income of the corporation, he said. He added that the modalities pertaining to the furniture requirements of all the departments was being worked upon wherein the same would be met through the corporation which will get the quality furniture made through its units situated at Hamirpur, Baijnath and Shamshi.

Effective steps would be undertaken for increasing the sale of the corporation by selling timber through its depots at Bhaderwa, Manthuwala in Nahan, Chamba, Baddi, Nurpur, Dhanotu, etc. depending upon the variety of woods available in depots.

Another decision which was made in the meeting was that marketing executives would be stationed at different furniture factories of the corporation and efforts would be made to adopt sound marketing strategies for increasing the sale of the furniture, besides giving it adequate publicity,  said Mr. Pathania. It was also discussed as how to market the best species available in the state.

He said that a decision was taken to submit the proposals to Forest Minister, Mr. Thakur Singh Bharmouri for final statement. Managing Director, Forest Corporation, Sh. J.S. Walia, Executive Director, Sh. S.K. Sharma, Director Administration, Sh. B.D. Suyal were also present in the meeting amongst others.
