A spokesman of state government told that currently only two panchayat Dodra and Kawar are connected with seasonal road but it becomes snowbound during winters at Chanshal Pass also called gateway of Dodra Kawar.

Fall about 180 kilometres from Shimla town, Chanshal pass is situated on 14,830 feet height and it is accessible by road from May to October as it is about 60 km from Rohru subdivision.

The local resident, Kawar Ranvir Singh said that three other gram panchayats Jiskun, Jakha and Banarvari is yet to be connected by road.

The road from Rohru to Dodra Kawar traversed after crossing Chanshal valley at the height of 12,307 feet but it remained off during the winters from November to April every year, cutting apart this area from rest of the world.

The state government has already announced to connect Jiskun and Jakha gram panchayat with road connectivity by next year but to make all weather road round the year it is trying to link Natward and Sewa area of Uttarakhand to left out panchayat.

Currently Dhaula area of Uttarakhand which is just 18 km from Dodra Kawar is connected with road upto Tunni of Uttarakhand. As most of the areas in Uttarakhand fall in Jim Corbett National Park and sanctuary area, there is delay in construction of road, Mr. Singh laments.

We are hopeful to get Jeep-able or ambulance road to Jiskan and Jakha Gram Panchayat soon, he said. In order to increase the infrastructure in this backward areas there is another plan to built 10 km long all weather tunnel between Tikri and Chargoan to avoid lofty Chanshal valley on the analogy of Rohtang tunnel in Lahaul and Spiti district.
