Son of Chief Minsiter Virbhadra Singh,  was in the fray for Youth Congress state presidentship, as he filed his nomination papers for Youth Congress election schedule to be held on November 15 and 16 at Rajiv Bhavan, Shimla.

He was the only candidate who filed for this post at Rajiv Bhavan.

In the polls held in November last year, Vikramaditya had secured 5,919 votes while his nearest rival Raghubir Bali (son of former minister G.S. Bali)  secured 2,343 votes.

For “violating the model code of conduct and disturbing the level-playing field” during the 2011 organisational polls in Himachal Pradesh 23 years old Vikramaditya was debarred to fight for this election.

CM’s son last time could not enjoy this post as Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections (FAME) had declared that elections as “null and void”.

FAME, an NGO that Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi had roped to ensure free and fair polls in Youth Congress. This was the first time that any state elections in the Youth Congress had declared invalid since Mr. Gandhi initiated the democratisation process in the organisation in 2008.

According to the notification of Indian Youth Congress said that election would be held on 15 and 16 November.

Till 1500 hours today was the last date of filing nomination scrutiny and symbol allocation will be held on 9th November. Counting of votes would be held on 18  November. State IYC would also elect Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha youth congress leaders for which counting would be held on 17th November.
