Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) organised International Conference on “Social Rights, Social Justice and Social Policies”.

One day International Conference on “Social Rights, Social Justice and Social Policies” was jointly organised by Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Fachhochschule, Frankfurt am Main, University of Applied Sciences, Frankfurt (Germany) on Thursday, 29th August, 2013 at the Temporary Academic Block, Shahpur.

Vice Chancellor, Prof Furqan Qamar in his key note speech said, “integrating with other world universities is a great learning and despite their variations, different forms of knowledge can be learnt from each other. Such academic exchange programmes would benefit students of both institutions. Apart from the subject learning, the interactions and observations taking place during such exchange programmes will benefit the students a lot”.

Welcoming the guests, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Yoginder Singh Verma told that exchange of information, knowledge and wisdom is very important to have peace and prosperity in the whole world. “With communication, physical boundaries are disappearing and whole world has become a family”, he said.

Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Dagmar Oberlies, Prof of Law of Social Work, Dept of Social Work and Health, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Germany said that “the project aims to help the students to study and understand the differences in social policy, social justice and social rights in different countries”.

The conference offered a common platform for students from Malaysia, Afghanistan, Germany and India to share the findings of their ethnographic research studies on social rights, social justice and social policies in the context of social experiences of their respective countries.

Retired Professor A.S. Kohli from Jamia Millia Islamia and Prof. Sanjai Bhatt, Head, Department of Social Work, University of Delhi had discussions and commentaries in the conference.

Twenty delegates and renowned academicians from Germany, Malaysia and Afghanistan took part in the deliberations besides local participants and professors from India.

Pro Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Yoginder Singh Verma, Registrar, Mr. Gautam Mukherjee, Finance officer, Mr. B.R. Dhiman, Dean of School of Social Sciences, Prof. Arvind K. Agrawal, Ms. Aatreyee, representative of Jagori (NGO) and Deans and Heads of the departments, faculty members and students of Central University of Himachal Pradesh, the Fachhochschule, Frankfurt am Main, University of Applied Sciences, Frankfurt, University Kebangsaan and Kabul University, Afghanistan were present on the occasion.

  1. I have participated at this conference from Kabul University and present a Narrative Interview. It was very useful for me and the other friends from Kabul Unversity.
