South West monsoon give little respite from continue insistent rain

South West Monsoon was vigorously active in the state, but recently it gave a little respite from insistent rain from last three days.

The Met office release said here today that rain may occur at few places in the plains and middle hills and isolated places in the high reaches. It also warned of heavy rainfall to occur at one or two places in low and mid hills of the state.

During last 24 hours monsoon lashed many parts of the state, Chamba town recorded 62 mm rain, tourist resort Dalhousie 41 mm, Renuka Ji in Sirmaur district 23 mm, Saluni in Chamba district 20 mm, Mashobra and Theog in Shimla district 19 mm and 8 mm respectively, Pandoh in Mandi district 14 mm, and Sujanpur Tira in Hamirpur district 7 mm.

Despite frequent rainfall and inclement weather, monsoon showers draw large number of tourists towards Shimla for weekend tourism. It got only 3 mm rainfall and was dry and partly cloudy till noon.
