Urmila Singh inaugurates International Minjar Fair

Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh, inaugurated the traditional eight day long International Minjar Fair. Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Singh said, “Indian culture stands International” , by unfurling the customary Minjar flag at Chamba yesterday.

The culture of India is unique among all the cultures of the world because it has preserved its distinct identity over the years without letting change its effect of the glorious past. She said that despite being a modern nation in all respects, it is culturally still the same which reflects in the rich traditions, art, music and its colorful fairs and festivals. This showcases the rich culture of ‘Dev Bhoomi’ in varied colors and added that people of the state deserves appreciation for preserving their rich cultural heritage intact.

She added that such celebrations not only uphold the unique cultural traditions but also strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and fraternity besides infusing zeal and  happiness among the people. She said that they also make young generation aware of their culture and instil a sense of pride and dignity in them.

Chamba attracts a number of tourists from home and abroad and generate  awareness about the culture of the state. There is also large scope for tourism in the area, she added.

It is extremely important to sensitize people about environment protection as hill states are very vulnerable and prone to natural disasters. We all should contribute towards keeping hills clean, green and safe, she said.

Governor also said that fairs and festivals stands as the identity of Himachal Pradesh.  Along with Minjar fair she also inaugurated the sports competitions of Minjar fair and visited exhibition stalls put up by various Government departments and  Boards and also detailed out the highlights of the fair.
