Cloudburst washes away huge chunk of arable land in HP

Cloudburst took heavy toll of property in Tai village which falls under Sural Bhutari Gram Panchayat of Pangi subdivision, about 20 km form headquarters Killard in Chamba district on Tuesday afternoon, Panchayat President Kalyan Singh confirmed.

Mr. Singh informed that cloudburst hit non-resident area of Tai village, washing away agriculture fertile land of 500 hectare which belonged to 15 farmers.

He said that no loss of life has been reported in this natural calamity but number of farms have been washed away due to flood caused by the cloud burst and also reported heavy rain lasting since Tuesday morning.

Resident Commissioner of Pangi Indra Singh Bhardwaj would visit the village today to access the exact loss, Mr. Singh informed.

Laxmi, one of the affected farmers laments that all connecting roads and most of pedestrian paths of the affected village damaged by  cloudburst dislodging the connection from rest of the world. He also said that cloud burst caused massive damage in the snowline areas.

State Met. office in-charge Manmohan Singh said that rain concentration was between  70-80 mm in the affected district, meanwhile heavy rain was also recorded in parts of Kangra and Chamba district as Dalhousie got 68 mm rain, Sujanpur Tirra of Kangra district recorded highest 77 mm rain in the state.

The Met office had issued warning of heavy rain at isolated places in next 24 hours.
