The opposition BJP in Himachal Pradesh has hailed the public interest petition (PIL) and order of Himachal Pradesh High court seeking government’s reply over its inactions in suspending supply of 47 lakh carry bags containing picture of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee made by last BJP rule, after spending Rs. 2.5 crore from the state exchequer.

Hailing at the present development, state spokesman of BJP Ganesh Dutt said in a press statement issued yesterday that this scheme was started by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal regime in July 2012 in order to facilitate the people in this hill state to carry PDS ration to their home conveniently, but it was banned by Election Commission of India on the complaint of Congress during recent assembly election.

As soon as Congress government took the charge after the elections in the state, it acted vindictively damping these carry bags to avoid it deliberately. BJP leader alleged adding that now a PIL has been filed before the high court over government’s inaction.

The court after admitting this petitions had asked the state to file its detailed reply within four weeks of issuing notice in this regard, Mr. Dutt said that Petition has sought government’s clarification.

He said that after this development it had forced and exposed the government to utilize damped carry bags for public use which had been manufactured in the public interest by last government.

Atal Carry bag, Atal Uniform and Atal 108 Ambulances were few popular schemes launched by last BJP government to benefit the masses but soon after taking charge Congress Government either suspended these schemes or changed their names.

Use of polythene carry bags is already prohibited in the state, therefore, a special fiber carry bags containing picture of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee were released by the BJP for supply of  PDS ration in the depots using the money from public exchequer.

The ruling Congress alleged that quality of bags was not up to the mark but it did not take any action over in-discrepancy in the scheme so far. There is general perception that scheme was being avoided on political grounds.
