Coldwave still continues in Himachal Pradesh

The coldwave continues in Himachal Pradesh as high reaches were having intermittent snowfall and downstream lashed with light spell of rain during last 24 hours containing sudden rise of mercury in the state.

The Met department report said that Kalpa, regional headquarters of Kinnaur had 10 cm snowfall while Keylong, headquarters of Lahual and Spiti 3 cm. Rohtang Pass in Kullu district, Baralacha in Chamba district, Dhauladhar ranges in Kangra district and Shrikhand Kaliash ranges in Kinnaur district were also reported moderate spell of snowfall.

Shimla airport at Jubberhant had 2.4 mm rain followed by Manali 2.2 mm, this capital town also got 1.4 mm rain while traces of rain were also recorded in Sundernagar in Mandi district and Saluni in Chamba district.

The day was partly cloudy, whereas night temperature declined by 2 to 3 degrees in last 24 hours.

Keylong was coldest in the state today and was recorded low at minus 4 degrees followed by Kalpa at minus 1 degrees, Manali at 1 degrees,Bhuntar at 6 degrees and Saluni in Chamba district 7 degrees. Dharamshala and Solan were at 8 degrees, Shimla and Sundernagar were low at 9 degrees, Palampur at 10 degrees, Una at 12 degrees and Mandi at 13 degrees.

The Met office said that rain or snow is likely to occur at isolated places in the high hills of Chamba and Lahual and Spiti while it would be mainly dry in other regions in next 24 hours. The weather would continue inclement in the state as fresh western disturbances are going to be active from tomorrow onwards.
