CPI(M) hails government decision to keep Annadale with Army

State unit of CPI(M) has hailed the decision of the government of the state to allow the Annadale ground remain with the Indian Army, but sought to allow its multiple use for the people of the town.

“The ground should not be left to be in the hands of a few elite golfers of the town”, Deputy Mayor and party secretariat member Mr. Tekinder Singh Panwar said in a press statement released over recent development.

The CPI(M) has further asked the government to not just stop at this and must thoroughly probe the land deals surrounding the Annadale ground and also to look into the connection in between the aforesaid cricket association and the buyers of more than 30 bighas of land surrounding the Annadale ground. The party has asked the government to unearth the hidden deal for the purchase of this land mainly by three buyers who actually are proxy to the land sharks close to the erstwhile BJP government. This requires an explanation as to how such a huge tract of land measuring more than 6 acres or 30 bighas could be bought for a paltry sum of Rs. 30 lakh, whereas the actual price is in crores. There has to be an investigation into the fact as to who all were responsible for the change of land use from forest to grassland to facilitate the sale and further construction in that area.

The party has stated apprehensions that the ground being usurped by the HPCA inter alia the BJP was the game plan of the previous government that was thoroughly exposed by the CPI(M) . The party has asked the government to ensure that such deals throughout the state are comprehensively probed and the guilty be brought to book.

It is worthwhile to mention here after sudden rise of Dharamshala HPCA Cricket Stadium for the international event, state government and Indian Army agreed upon this decision to keep the historic ground under ambit of Indian army for being used as helipad and training center of ARTRAC.

After resuming charge the new Congress government decided to let Annadale ground under Army and also decided to built international stadium at Kotasanni 10 km from this capital town. The funds were already allotted to this stadium but it was biting dust during five years of BJP rule.
