Himachal raised the matter of reviving industrial package, no immediate assurance from center

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh met with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Anand Sharma along with state’s Industry Minister Mr. Mukesh Agnihotri and raised the matter of reviving industrial packages to Himachal. However, Mr. Sharma did not give any immediate assurance to new congress government in this regard but assured the state to make efforts to make state investment paradise.

Soon after returning home, Mr. Singh said in a press statement released to media that during his meeting with Mr. Sharma at New Delhi in which the matter was taken up, both the leaders had reported detailed discussion over strengthening industrial infrastructure in the state besides making Himachal Pradesh a favourite destination for investment. Mr. Virbhadra Singh said that the state government would provide various incentives to the industrialists willing to invest in the state. He said that the state government would give thrust on promoting industries based on locally available raw material. He added that government would also come out with an investor friendly industrial policy at the earliest. Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to co-operate with the state for reviving the industrial package for the state. He said that it would assist in bringing industrial investment in the state, besides providing employment to the youth. He said that possibilities would be explored to establish textile units in the state and a textile park would be established for the purpose. Mr. Sharma assured the Chief Minister of all possible co-operation from his ministry. He said that, he would protect the interests of the state so as to make Himachal Pradesh truly an investors paradise.

Mr. Agnihotri discussed various initiatives proposed by the state government for promoting industrial activities in the state. He said that the deputation of industrial department  official would also visit New Delhi on 4th of next month and will present status paper on industrial development in the state.
