Grip of cold wave tighten in Himachal with partly cloudy and foggy weather

The grip of cold wave was tightening further in this hill state as it was partly cloudy and foggy in the state keeping down the mercury abnormally low in the day hours, moreover many places in the high reaches were already reeling under severe cold wave conditions, where minimum temperature plunged to minus 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in the high reaches like Bharmour, Pangi in Chamba, Kibbar in Lahaul & Spiti and Chitkul in Kinnuar district.

The Met office said that owing to westerly winds the state was witnessing cloudy to partly cloudy weather for the second day today. The night temperature was almost stationary but cold wave was intensified during the day, forcing the people to come out wearing woolens from their house.

Keylong in Lahaul Spiti recorded low at minus 0.7 degrees, Kalpa 1.4 degrees, tourists resort Manali and Bhuntar 3 degrees each, Solan and Sunderngar 4 degrees each, Saloni in Chamba 5 degrees, Shimla and Una 7 degrees each, Dharamshala 8.8 degrees and Nahan 10 degrees. Maximum temperature likely to be dipped today following partly cloudy weather in the state. Few places in Lahaul & Spiti reported more snowfall during last 24 hours, however, dry cold spell was prevailing in Chamba, Shimla, Mandi and Kullu district having no report of rain or snow. The low lining areas falling along major rivers in the state like Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Kangra were also reported cloudy and partly foggy today. The grip of cold wave and foggy weather started affecting the life of people with decreasing the visibility on the road with advancement of winter season.

The Met office, forecast rain or snow at isolated parts of high reaches and mainly dry weather in the rest of state.
