7 dead and 23 injured in a road accident near Namohal

7 people were killed and 23 injured when an overcrowded multi-utility vehicle carrying a marriage party skidded off the road and rolled down a 40-foot gorge in Himachal Pradesh, police said.

The ill-fated vehicle met an accident at around 12.30 pm at Khalota village near Namohal, some 35 km from district headquarter town of Bilaspur. Superintendent of Police Mr. Santosh Patyal said, “Thirteen of the injured have been referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh.”

He also said that the victims were from a nearby village and they were going to another village close by to attend a marriage ceremony.
