HPCA to invite neighbouring countries

In order to give more exposure to Himachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) will invite neighboring countries to play cricket at International Cricket Stadium Dharamshala. Considering the cricket match played between Indian MPs and their counterpart from United Kingdom an important occasion, President of HPCA, Mr. Anurag Thakur revealed that teams from neighboring countries would be invited to play matches at Dharamshala in near future. He said that among 17-selected Stadiums in the Country, Dharamshala stadium was selected by the Indian Cricket Board to hold National and International matches.

The work on this stadium started in the year 2002 and was dedicated to the people in the year 2010 by spending over Rs. 60 crore.Having a capacity of 20,000 spectators, the stadium has been hosting IPL matches, match between Pakistan and India and many other matches. Hailing the effort of Mr Anurag Thakur, former Indian Cricket Skiper, Mr. Mohammad Azharuddin, who played the T-20 match against UK on April 13 stated, ” HPCA should start hosting Test Matches as it is not just a beautiful stadium but also has all the facilities.”

Mathew Hancock, the captain of England team has described this match, important not only from sports point of view but also from the point of strengthening of ties between the two countries. He also appriciated the HPCA for constructing such a beautiful Cricket Stadium which is full of facilities.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Prem Kumar Dhumal welcomed both the teams and also honoured the players with Himachali shawls.
