Shimla (Jan 13): The Shimla Nagrik Sabha has demanded construction of an alternative  passage for the Shimla-Kangra NH-88 road from Shimla to Ganahatti via Taradevi-Badehri-Shilli.

In a letter written to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, the citizen body has reasoned that the Shimla-Kangra highway often gets  blocked because of snow at Dhandha, Totu and Tawi Mor, due to which traffic movement cames to a standstill. Shimla Nagrik Sabha feels this can be avoided if an alternative path/road that starts from Taradevi and via Badehri-Shilli touches Ganahatti is linked to the said national highway. Just 500 metres of this road has to be constructed, rest entire road is already functional, it has been claimed.

The letter durther states that the government should declare this stretch from Shimla to Ganahatti via Taradevi-Badehri-Shilli as NH-88, as it can be an all-weather road.
