Shimla (Dec 21): Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the state director general of police to file an affidavit furnishing names of police officers whose names figure in the current ODI (officers with doubtful integrity) list, also indicating their places of postings. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice DD Sud also directed the DGP to explain in the affidavit reasons to retain ODI police officers in sensitive postings, if any of them are posted as such.

The court passed these orders on the appeal of three police Officers from Sirmaur challenging their transfer from district constabulary to battalions. They had contended in their appeal before the court that there are numerous police officers whose names figure in the current ODI list who are still continuing in sensitive posts.

The three had earlier challenged their transfer through a writ petition, which was dismissed by the high court as the government had cited the reason of their names figuring in the current ODI list as the reason behind their transfers. The matter will now come up for hearing on January 5, 2012.
