4 more golf courses in Himachal soon

Shimla, Nov 30: Speaking on the occasion of prize distribution function in golf tournament organised by HP Golf Association, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that state government was exploring the possibilities of developing four more golf courses at Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Nalagarh and Baddi.

Currently, state has two international golf courses at Naldehra and Annandale. Naldehra golf course is being re-designed to match the international standards so that regional and national-level golf tournaments could be organized. He added that after developing more golf courses in different parts of the state, large number of foreigners could be attracted, giving boost to the sports tourism as state records 1.32 crore tourists footfall annually including 4.53 lakh foreigners. He also informed that golf had been included in olympics scheduled for the year 2016 at Rio-de-Janeiro. He said that HP Golf Association was seeking affiliation with Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association and Indian Golf Union.
