Shimla (Aug 27): State unit of Congress on Saturday decided to boycott the proceeding of select committee set up to consider amendment in Himachal Pradesh Ceiling of Land Holding Act.

Addressing media persons here, Congress state media spokesperson Kuldeep Pathania said that BJP, which was indulged in large scale handing over of state land to outsiders, especially to number of private universities after waiving of Section 118 of HP Land Reform and Tenancy Act, now want to exempt the violators of the Act. Congress opposed the bill on the plea that the amendments would open floodgates for “plundering” scarce agricultural land in the state.
