Shimla (Aug 22): Agitation by team Anna at Ramleela ground is likely to rock Himachal Pradesh assembly’s monsoon session commencing here from tomorrow, giving a major shield in the hand of the ruling BJP government, which could otherwise be cornored by the Congress for drawing attention of the house toward local issues like benami land deals.

The Congress, lately trying to cordon the state BJP government in the state on
the issue of corruption, is itself likely to face a strong attack by the
treasury benches on the issue. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal who was so far in defense to counter the opposition move, seems to have got a solid shield of protests against the Union government.

Indicating BJP’s house strategy, Dhumal has recently stated that the government was serious on the issue of corruption and would bring new legislations in the House to deal with the problem. The monsoon session would last till August 30 having weekly break of two days on August 27 and 28.

Congress is trying the attack BJP on the issue of handing over private land to private universities. The party started a rally form Solan to Kandaghat today and issued whip to all party MLAs to remain present in the protest march, which would arrive at the Vidhan Sabha tomorrow. But keeping the mood of people in the state against Congress rule at the Center in mind, the BJP seems to have get an edge over the opposition.
