Monsoon intensifies in Himachal

Shimla: (July 14): South-West Monsoon became more intense in Himachal
Pradesh as widespread rains were reported from the different parts of the state in the last 24 hours. The Met office warned of heavy rainfall in parts of Sirmaur, Shimla, Solan, Kangra, Chamba & Mandi district during next 48 hours.

The swollen Yamuna river likely to become more aggressive as upstreams areas in Sirmour district are having heavy rainfall with Ranuka getting highest 110 mm rain in the district while Paonta had 72 mm, Nahan 20 mm, Rajgarh 18 mm Sangrah 16 mm and Pachhad mm.

Baijnath in Kangra district had 78 mm rain, Dharamshala 35.4 mm, Palampur 33.4 mm, and Dehra Gopipur 6 mm respectively. Shimla and surrounding areas were engulfed by thick blanket of cloud and fog having intermittent rainfall since this morning. The Met office said that rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in most parts of Himachal Pradesh during next 24 hours.
