Keylong: Speaking at the concluding day of Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign organized by the Press Information Bureau Shimla at police ground Keylong, former legislator and senior congress leader Raghubir Singh Thakur demanded subsidized chopper services for tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh in line with North Eastern states.
He said that the snow bound districts remain cut off from main stream of life for more than six months in a year and should be treated at par with seven sisters states by providing special fund for subsidized chopper services. Hoping that Rohtang tunnel would transform the destiny of this district, he said people of Lahaul Spiti are most affected due to the frequent closure of Rani Nalah road on Rohtang Pass and it has caused massive damage to pea and seed potato crop in the past.
Giving progress of National Rural Health Mission in the district, CMO Rameshwer Singh Pujara said that 108 free emergency ambulance scheme has been launched in the district. Expressing concern over prevalence of anaemia among women in the district, he said that the health department is providing free iron pills to women in the district. The three day campaign organised by PIB Shimla and other media units of information and broadcasting ministry concluded today in which people of this far flung area were given information about the central government’s welfare and development programs so as to give them their benefits.
