Shimla (July 7): Himachal Pradesh University in a statement issued today has stated that it would implement the orders of the high court in letter and spirit to maintain peace on the campus. In an order on 29th June, the court has directed the university and Shimla SP to take all necessary measures to maintain law and order in the campus. The high court itself is monitering the situation.

CP Verma, registrar of the university, said today that in the case titled ‘Ms Anjana Chauhan Vs State of Himachal Pradesh and Others, the high court has issued a fresh direction pertaining to the ban on holding rallies, dharnas and gheraos, etc, within 200 metres from the library and sticking of posters on the walls of the university except places exclusively provided by the university. The high court bench comprising Justice RB Mishra and Justice Sanjay Karol has directed the police and the university to keep the court updated on regular basis in this matter.
