Two-week training course on women empowerment at Dharamshala

Dharamshala (July 2): Jagori Rural Charitable Trust (JRCT) and SANGAT will be holding a two-week training course on “Gender, Sustainable Development and Women’s Empowerment” from August 16 to 28 at Training and Research Academy (TARA), Sidhbari, Kangra district.

The objective of this two-week training programme is to respond to the felt needs of organizations, primarily based in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and other north Indian states as well as from the Hindi/Hindustani speaking countries of South Asian region, especially Nepal, Pakistan and Bhutan.

The main objectives of the course will be to develop a feminist perspective on a range of issues related to rural development and reconstruction, with a special focus on Women’s rights and entitlements; strengthen the capacity of the staff of various NGOs, human rights and women’s rights groups and other civil society organizations and individuals; build solidarity and network among participants from different states and develop common agendas and campaigns for future; and skill building on various aspects of expected roles of staff members.
