Shimla: High Court of Himachal Pradesh has issued notices to the D.C. of Una and the Temple Officer, Mata Chintpurni Temple Trust and has directed them to file reply as to why hereditary trust has not been nominated and has asked to explain the delay. The court has also directed them to produce the audited balance sheet along with the nature of the expenditure and income from temple.

The directions of the Division Bench, comprising of Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice V.K. Sharma came on the petition of five hereditary trustees (pujari baridars) of Mata Chintpurni Trust to direct against unauthorized expenditure of temple income for dubious causes. The High Court, in another case on 07.01.03 had directed the D.C. to place a prospective comprehensive plan/ blueprint, formulating overall policy guidelines to gear up the administration of the temple. The D.C., in his prospective plan had suggested that the first charge on the amount of cash offerings should be the
administrative expenses for the management of temple. The D.C. had further suggested that the 50% share of pujari baridars in cash offerings was on higher side and should be reduced. Since then the prospective plan has been a bone of contention between the administration and the hereditary trustees.
