108 ambulance enters Lahaul valley

Shimla: Imparting important milestone to people of landlocked Lahaul valley of Himachal Pradesh, 108-Ambulnace was rolled on the road in Keylong and Udaipur hospital from today onward.

Renowned as Atal Swasthaya Sewa 108 Ambulance service was kicked off by Deputy Commissioner Lahaul Spit Rajiv Kumar. He flagged off this service from district hospital Keylong today. The launching in the district was delayed as two vehicle could arrive at both hospitals only after two towns were reopened with road link with rest of nation after clearing snow from Manali-Leh highway. Rajiv Kumar greeted the people of district and hoped that this service would transform their lives, as it would provide them with the service of faster hospitalization.

Meanwhile, another 108 ambulance has already been launched in the Kaza town of Spiti valley. It has already offered rapid response to a patient at Kibber village at height of 4205 m from the sea level.  The scheme is being funded under NRHM. Now, state government claimed that it has increased the number of ambulances to auspicious 108 level, which could be called at the same number in the state.
