Chief Justice to preside over public awareness meeting about alcoholism

Shimla: Alcoholic Anonymous popularly known as A.A. is a world wide fellowship of men and women. It has organised one day public awareness meeting about Alcoholism at Bachat Bhawan at Deputy Commissioner Office here tomorrow, which would be presided over by Himachal Pradesh high court Chief Justice Joseph Kurien.

While addressing media persons here today member of A.A. Anurag Advani said that organization functions in more than 184 countries having estimated strength of 3 million sober alcoholics world wide and 30,000 members in India alone. He said that alcoholism is disease, which harms the addict mentally, socially, physically and spiritually. He said that Alcoholic Anonymous persuades the addict to quit alcohol after giving them 12 step therapy, which is not only effective to get out of alcoholism, but also assists others to come out of this menace.

He said that A.A. having 6 to 7 query regularly in the north region to join fellowship on its help line number 94170-37358 daily. He said that this organization was founded in 1953 by American Medical Association.
