Cloudburst claims one life in Himachal

Shimla (Jun 1): A cloudburst hit Udaipur village on the Chamba-Pathankot national highway last night, claiming one life while three others were injured following heavy rainfall in the state during last 24 hours.
About one dozen houses and six vehicles were also washed away by the cloudburst.

Meanwhile, fresh Western Disturbances were active since this morning, which brought winter-like cold conditions in this hill state, which has already seen excessive rain during the summer season. In Bilaspur district Jhandutta recorded 40 mm rain, Ghamroor 13 mm, Bharwain 4 mm. In Shimla district Rampur received 36 mm, Sunibajji 4 mm, Theog and Rohru 3 mm each, Jubbal and Shimla town 2 mm each.

In Mandi, Pandoh got 16 mm, Dharmpur 12 mm, got 9.6 mm, Mandi town 6 mm and Gohar 5 mm. In Sirmaur Renuka got 16 mm, Pachhad 14 mm, Nahan 13 mm, Sangarah 11 mm, Ponta Sahib 10 mm and  Rajgarh 9 mm. In Una district Bangana received 15 mm, in Solan Arki got 10 mm and Kasuli 7 mm, Kasol in Hamirpur 10 mm, Kahu 9 mm, Nadaun 5 mm and Sujan Pur Terra 2 mm. In Kangra Guler got 7 mm, Dharmshala and Palampur 6 mm each, Baijnath 5 mm and Nurpor 2 mm. In Chamba Solani received 7mm and Tissa 6 mm.

Minimum temperature in Shimla was 12 degree Celsius, Sundernagar 17.4 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu 17 degrees, Kalpa of Kinnaur 8.5 degrees, Dharamshala 19 degrees, Una 20.degrees, Mandi 18.5 degrees, Nahan 16.6 degrees, Keylong 10.9 degrees, Palampur 15.5 degrees and Solan 14.8 degrees, respectively.

The Met office has warned that heavy rainfall or hailstorm with wind speed reaching 40 to 50 Km/hours are likely at occur at isolated places in Chamba, Mandi, Shimla, Kullu & Kangra districts.
