Two women killed in a road accident

Dharamshala: Two elderly women Kamla Devi and Satya Devi were killed in a road accident late last evening when a van on its way from Dharamshala to Nurpur hit them at Kuthman village near Kangra airport on Pathankot-Mandi national highway, police said here today. The accident left Kamla Devi dead on the spot.

Local residents gathered at the spot and informed 108 and Gaggal police post, but neither of them could reach the spot immediately, which forced people to shift the injured woman Satya Devi to Tanda Medical College Hospital in a private vehicle. She succumbed to the injuries on her way to TMC hospital. The driver and the occupants of the van were on way to Nurpur after witnessing the IPL match. They left the vehicle at the accident site and fled from the scene. Police has arrested the accused driver of the van Moti Ram, a resident of village Hatli Jamwal today. National Highway experienced a heavy traffic jam as the people were returning back from Dharamshala after witnessing IPL match between Kings XI and Delhi daredevils.
