Poacher killed, two wildlife officials injured in encounter

Nahan (April 17): A poacher was killed and two wildlife officials injured in an encounter at Kaleiser Safari situated near Poanta Sahib town of Himachal Pradesh last evening.

DSP Paonta Sahib Jai Shiv Kumar told HimVani that a poacher belonging to Himachal Pradesh was killed after an encounter occurred between a group of poachers and wildlife officials of Haryana posted in Kaleiser Safari. Two wildlife officials injured in the encounter were rushed to Jamunanagar hospital where they were being treated.

Meanwhile, the deceased body was brought for postmortem at Poanta Sahib hospital and was later handed over to Haryana Police as the case has been registered at Khidrawad Police Station.

The incident occurred when three people form Kishanpur village of Paonta Sahib sub-division of Himachal went for hunting into Kaleiser Safari in Haryana area where they faced Haryana wildlife employees, resulting in death of Rampal (32), son of Lal Singh, who died on the spot after being hit by three gun shots.
