Shimla (Mar 29): Himachal Pradesh Assembly witnessed unruly scenes during the Question Hour over allowing reselling of auctioned Himalayan Fertilizer Industrial Unit at Shimla during the previous Congress regime.

The entire opposition was on toes as Industry Minister Kishan Kapoor was replying to a query raised by Randhir Sharma(Kotkahailur-BJP). The minister blamed the previous Congress regime of allowing reselling of the PUS by M/s Goodwill Industries after giving cabinet approval. Kapoor disclosed that the State Vigilance department was probing the alleged deal after lodging an FIR (No.- 3/ 2009) under sections 420 & 120 B of IPC on January 23, 2009.

He said that unit was auctioned by the state for a paltry price of Rs 3.06 crore and was resold by M/s Goodwill for Rs 7.51 Cr. thereby recording profit of Rs 4.50 crore within three years of its auction. Minister informed that as M/s. Goodwill applied for seeking approval for reselling this unit as it failed to set up induction furnace industry for which it has been auctioned in March 2004 but the state Cabinet initially rejected the proposal.

As the cabinet denied approval for reselling the unit the firm knocked the door of courts seeking resale of auctioned unit but in the meantime the matter was again put up for cabinet approval by the government and it allowed reselling.
