Nahan (March 24): The three-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign began at Nahan of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh to create awareness among the common people about the central government’s development progrmmes.

Organised by PIB Shimla in association with other media units of I&B ministry, the campaign was inaugurated by Lok Sabha member Virendra Kashyap by lighting the lamp. In his speech, Kashyap said that the newly elected panchayati raj representatives have vital role to play in passing on the information of the state and central government’s programmes at the grass root level in rural areas.

Stating that 58 per cent of women have been elected in the recent concluded panchayat raj elections, he called upon them to fulfill their responsibility honestly and ensure that the benefits of these development progrmmes are percolated down to the village level. This is the 10th PIC programme being held in the state under the auspices of PIB Shimla.
