200 participants turn up in Himachal Special Olympics

Shimla: Chairperson of the Special Olympics Association, Himachal Chapter Mallika Nadda told Himvani today told HimVani that as many as 200 disabled people from eight states gathered at Snow laden ski slopes of Narkanda from eight states to take part in four day long National Winter Games starting from Wednesday in Special Olympics.

She said the Narkanda ski slopes have more than one foot thick snow and events like snow shoeing, snow boarding and alpine skiing would be organised. She also said that it would also serve as a national training-cum-selection camp. She added that best players shortlisted from this camp would participate in the Special Olympics World Winter Games to be held in South Korea in 2013.
