Parents lodge protest before authorities over closure of school

Shimla: Parents lodged protest before Himalayan School administration over their move to close down the school at Chharabra, the outskirts of Shimla.

About 60 parents of 170 students today lodged their protest before Himalayan school administration at Chharabara, as met with school administration General Secretary B.K. Bhardwaj this afternoon. Parents led by Shimla Zila Parisad Chairman Anirudha Singh warned the school administration over their move to close the school affecting the fate of as many as 170 student enrolled in it.

School General Secretary insisted the parents to allow administration to close the school, as building is unsafe and requires renovation. In addition, it is also incurring huge loss to management and they could not afford to carry both task together. He also assured the affected parents that administration would replace their wards in another schools and their future would not be harmed by this action. However, parents did not relent to the request, charging school administration for making excuses, as the building is in perfect condition and school is working in the same conditions for last 25 yrs. They also warned to lodge protest in future if administration did not pay heed to their concern.

According to Police official at Police Station Dhali, parents did not lodge protest outside the school and the meeting was largely peaceful without any altercation between the two parties.
