Shimla (Feb 8): Following death of four school kids a day earlier, Himachal Pradesh Education Minister ID Dhiman today directed his department to conduct a survey of unsafe school buildings across the state to avert any such mishaps in the future.

Taking a strong notice of the shocking incident that occurred in a primary school at Chatarpur Dada in Una district, in which four children lost their lives yesterday, Dhiman said that directions to all the Deputy Directors of Elementary and Higher Education were being issued to survey unsafe school buildings and boundary walls and to seek permission to dismantle all such school buildings or boundary walls immediately. He said that necessary funds would be provided to reconstruct such buildings so that safety of children could be ensured by all means. Expressing grief over the shocking incident, the minister directed the district administration of Una to provide immediate relief to the families of the affected.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) has demands that the state government should allocate sufficient budget to build proper infrastructure like classrooms, play grounds, toilets, kitchens, etc. “In each and every school, regular teachers should be appointed in proportion to the students. The policy of closure of government schools should be stopped immediately. Further, immediately stringent action should be taken against guilty responsible for this tragic incident and minimum five lakh rupees should be given as compensation to each family,” said Rakesh Singha, secretary, CPI(M), HP State Committee.

take notice of the delapidated building.resposibilty should be fixed and swift action should be taken .Govt should take proactive step and not merely reactive. The future of country should not be allowed to bury under the heap of negligency.
