Administration invokes ban on holding rallies and demonstrations in Shimla

Shimla: Exercising extraordinary powers vested with district administration of this town, prohibitory orders have been clamped up, banning rallies and protest demonstrations for next two months. Recently posted Deputy Commissioner Onkar Chand Sharma today issued the prohibitory orders evoking section 144 of criminal procedure code, which enforces immediate ban on rallies and demonstrations in the town for two months. The step was taken in order to maintain peace and law and order in the city after  reports that some organisations and groups were planning to hold demonstrations and rallies in town which could disturb public peace.
