High reaches snowing in Himachal

Shimla: High reaches of Himachal Pradesh were covered with snow overnight, as there are reports of light to moderate spell of snow from many places, while light showers lashed the lower areas.

The report arriving from Lahaul Spiti district said that Keylong received about 6 cm snow, where as rest of high places in the district got 10 to 15 cm fresh spell of snow. In Kinnuar District, Kalpa got 5 cm snowfall, while high reaches like Chitkul, Shrikhand and Kinnuar Kailash also reported light to moderate snowfall. Tourist town Manali experienced mild spell of snow this morning, while high reaches of Kullu district got 8 to 10 cm snowfall at Rohtang Pass, Merri, Jalori-jot and Solang Nalah. Low lying areas of district lashed with light spell of rain recorded 6 mm in Seobagh and 3.2 mm in Bhuntar.

Tourist resort Narkanda got 4 cm snowfall, which partly disrupted the movement of traffic on Hindustan-Tibet highway in the wee hours, meanwhile Kufri and Fagu in this district witnessed mild to light spell of snowfall this afternoon. The peaks of Chamba and Kangara had fresh snowfall, while Dhauladhar ranges of latter got heavy spell of snow increasing cold wave in low lying areas and Pangi and Bharmour of former reported moderate spell of snow while down stream area and Saloni recorded 7 mm rainfall.
