Shimla, Kufri, Narkanda & upper Manali get snowfall

Shimla (Jan 14): Tourist resort Kufri, Narkanda and Shimla have been snowing since morning, while high reaches of Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur are expected to get heavy snowfall.

Reports arriving here said that tourist resort Narkanda reported 4 cm of snowfall while Hatu and Kufri received 3 cm each. Capital town Shimla capital town recorded 2 cm snow since 7.30 am this morning, while low-lying areas in the state reported rainfall. Shimla recorded a low of 2 degree Celsius last night.

Tourist destination Manali is reported to be partly cloudy today, but high reaches like Solangnalah, Jalorijot, Rohtang Pass and Koksar received snowfall.

According to information received from Shimla, Kullu and Dharamsala, air flights to the state had been canceled for the day due to inclement weather conditions.

IMD in-charge of Himachal Pradesh Manmohan Singh said in a weather bulletin that heavy snow and rain would lash in the state in the next two days. He had issued special warning to high reaches of state that heavy rainfall and snowfall is likely to occur at isolated places on 14th and 15th of January.
