Shimla: Showing strong resentment against adhoc appointments defying university norms, it is Vice Chancellor versus employees in Himachal Pradesh University. Agitated over appointment of controller of examination at Himachal Pradesh University on deputation, employees are up in arms against the VC SK Gupta, seeking reconsidering the decisions as they termed it against the university rules.

In a press release issued here today HPU Executive council member Waryam Singh Bains said that appointment of controller of examination has been made in contravention of university rules and employees would not allow to do so. The issue even erupted a protest and rallies in HPU, as talks with the VC remained unfruitful in sorting it out. Employees have even threatened to knock the doors of court if VC did not back track.

Employees were also condemning the adhoc arrangement of higher administrative bodies of university, which is also against the statue of University, they alleged. Regular selection for the post of registrar, finance officer, controller of examination, librarian, director of academic staff college and director international center for distance education and open learning should be made, employees have demanded. Seeking Governor intervention over the present friction between the employees and VC, they asked state Governor Urmila Singh, who happens to be Chancellor of the university to intervene for solving the issue, as it could create problems with coming annual examinations of the university slated to be held in March 15, 2010.
