Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Government has beefed up vigil at entry points as media reports are pouring in about possible incursion of China along the Indo-Sino border. Superintendent of Police, Lahaul Spiti S.R. Rana told Himvani over phone that there is no confirmation about sudden spurting up of activities along Indo-Sino border. Moreover, as ITBP controls the entire border line along Kinnaur and Lahalu Spiti district and its officials would be able to comment about it in a better way.

Replying to possible threat from Chinese side to Indian territory, falling along the border with Himacal Pradesh, he explained that comment would  better be given by the ITBP, but vigil has certainly been beefed up along the key entry points to keep an eye on the movement of people in Indian side after having media reports about it. He said that district police is looking after only Samdoh border barrier post, which is key entry point from Chinese side to Kinnuar and Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. He also said that police is keeping an eye on the movement of people after checking the identity of people crossing Indo-Sino barrier post.

Sumdoh is located on the border of Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts and is manned by the state police. Beyond Sumdoh, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel are deployed. Sources said the Indo-Tibetan Border Police have also strengthened their check posts at Chitkul,(last bordering village on Indo-Sino border) and Namgya near Khab in Pooh subdivision in Kinnaur district. A section of Media reported about Chinese troops incursion in Leh and police have simply beefed up the vigil along the places that fall under its jurisdictions near Indo-Sino border, but only ITBP is authorized to report about any further threat or escalation, he added.
