Rs 22,831 Cr survey estimates for Bhanupali-Leh railway cleared

    Shimla (Dec 29) Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal said that Union Minister of Railway has forwarded Rs 22,831 Crore survey estimate to Planning Commission to clear the strategic importance of Bhanupal-Bilaspur-Manal-Leh railway line.

    In a letter received from Union minister of state for Railway E. Ahemad, Union government has prepared the estimate of Bhanupal-Bilaspur-Manali-Leh railway line after completing its survey said Dhumal.

    He said that Rs 22,381 Crore estimate project has been forward to Planning Commission to get its consent to lay down broad gauge line between Bhanupali to Leh.

    Chief Minister said that Railway Minister also apprised that broad gauge railway line has been purposed between Pathankot to Joginernagar, however it is not clear that whether existing Kangra-Jogindernagar railway to be converted into broad gauge or another line would be lay in parallel to existing one.
